Automatic Driving Lessons in our Dual Controlled Cars

The automatic car choice is becoming increasingly popular particularly with busy people, with older people and drivers with a disability.

DRIVING AN AUTOMATIC CAR IS SAFER

Automatic cars are safer to drive because you are freed of the need to select the correct gear at the correct time, this means you can concentrate on the road conditions and traffic conditions. In heavy traffic or manoeuvring in restricted space you may select a low gear (D1)(DS) on the gear select this prevents surge. When stopped in parking area the park position on the gear select leaver should be used. An Automatic car will not start if the gear select leaver is not in park or neutral positions.

There is one other point which is different from manual cars and this is the effect of engine braking. The gear will usually change up when the accelerator is released initially so slowing should be done a little earlier than usual.
